Las infecciones de piel y partes blandas son comunes en pediatría, principalmente causadas por alteraciones de la barrera cutánea que permiten la entrada de microorganismos como Staphylococcus aureus y Streptococcus pyogenes. Aunque hay escasa información epidemiológica local, estos patógenos están presentes en la piel y fosas nasales. Este estudio descriptivo se basó en una revisión bibliográfica de artículos recientes de revistas científicas reconocidas. Los hallazgos muestran que, aunque las infecciones cutáneas en niños son un motivo frecuente de consulta, su diagnóstico es un desafío, y a menudo se confunden con traumas, llevando a tratamientos tardíos y posibles complicaciones. Se recomienda el uso de ecografías y exámenes de laboratorio para mejorar la precisión diagnóstica.

Abstract
Skin and soft tissue infections are common in pediatrics, mainly caused by disruptions in the skin barrier that allow the entry of microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Although there is limited local epidemiological information, these pathogens are present on the skin and nasal passages. This descriptive study was based on a literature review of recent articles from recognized scientific journals. The findings show that while skin infections in children are a frequent reason for consultation, their diagnosis is challenging and they are often confused with traumas, leading to delayed treatments and potential complications. The use of ultrasounds and laboratory tests is recommended to improve diagnostic accuracy.
