Abstract

Trocantheric lipodystrophy is a term used to describe a specific type of lipodystrophy, which is defined as a medical condition that affects the way fat is distributed in the body. This disorder is characterized by an unusual loss or accumulation of adipose tissue in certain areas of the body, which can result in a physical appearance that differs significantly from what would be considered normal. More specifically, this condition refers to the excessive accumulation of adipose tissue, i.e., fat, in the trochanteric region, which is located on the lateral side of the hip, where the femur and pelvis meet. We present the case of a female patient with bilateral trochanteric lipodystrophy who underwent the necessary surgical intervention to correct the deformities in both trochanteric areas that had arisen as a result of the lipodystrophy. To perform this procedure, an incision was made in the skin just above the trochanters, and the entire trochanteric area was discolored. During this process, the excess dermograsic tissue was cut away, resulting in a linear scar at that level. This technical approach made it possible to effectively conceal the scar when the patient wore a swimsuit. The results revealed a figure with contours that are both smooth and symmetrical in shape. There were no complications.
