NEW OVARIAN STIMULATION SCHEMES IN INFERTILITY: LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Introduction. Mild ovarian stimulation, that is, low complexity, where no more than 4 eggs are obtained, was proposed more than 20 years ago as an alternative regimen to conventional ovarian stimulation for women undergoing IVF procedures, which assumes that low doses and/or short duration of exogenous gonadotropin can promote the recruitment of few follicles containing the most competent oocytes. Objective. To present the new ovarian stimulation schemes in patients with infertility through a bibliographic review. Methodology. Narrative bibliographic review in studies, meta-analysis, systematic reviews, controlled clinical trials, cohort studies, bibliographic reviews that report information on new ovarian stimulation schemes for patients with infertility, from 2018 to 2023, in English languages and Spanish. Results. Seventeen articles were chosen, where we found that there are diverse types of gonadotropins on the market, urinary and recombinant, presenting both with the same rate of efficacy. The decision to choose between one or the other will depend on the individual criteria of the clinician, who will have considered the cost-benefit ratio. Corifolitropina alfa is a new hybrid molecule that has the same capacity for multifollicular development in ovarian stimulation as the current preparations on the market, with the advantage that it has a longer half-life. Conclusion. Currently there are many ovarian stimulation protocols available. The important thing is, in addition to knowing them all, to know which one best suit each patient.
